Independence 5K: April 15, 2017 – Meadowbrook Park

Join PACE, as we re-envision our annual Wheelathon. This year’s event has changed, but still has the same goals; To build awareness of issues important to persons with disabilities, and to raise monies which will allow PACE – Center for Independent Living maintain, and expand the services we offer to persons with disabilities in East-Central Illinois.

This year’s event offers: runners, walkers, and wheelers a chance to do a 5K through beautiful Meadowbrook Park in Urbana; Gives people the opportunity to experience navigating a course in a wheelchair; And introduces “The Disability Experience”, where people can take a quick sign language class, experience what life looks like with different eye diseases, and learn facts about the people and technologies that have shaped the world.

There are opportunities for corporate sponsorship; individuals to collect pledges from their friends and family, or for you to say “I want to be a part of the Independence 5K, and sign up today!!

Be a corporate Sponsor–Have your name on signage around the event, sponsor the live remote, be on the t-shirts. Sponsoring the Independence 5K is a great way to be involved in the community, and show your commitment to inclusion.

The more people who recruit their friends and family by getting pledges, or who sign themselves up and bring a group of people, the more PACE can continue to ensure that persons with disabilities have the opportunity to participate in the rights and responsibilities of society.
