FREE AMPLIFIED TELEPHONES
PACE’s Amplified Telephone program provides telecommunications access to people who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Late Deafened, Speech-Disabled and Deaf-Blind. Loaned Captioned telephones and free Amplified Telephones, are available to qualified individuals from ITAC (Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation) via PACE.
ELIGIBILITY FOR FREE AMPLIFIED TELEPHONE
To qualify for amplified telecommunications equipment for PACE’s Amplified Telephone Program, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- be a legal resident of the State of Illinois
- have working land line or cellular telephone service
- be certified as Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Speech-Disabled or Deaf-Blind by a Licensed Physician, a Speech-Language Pathologist, an Audiologist, or designated DHS/DRS Counselor
There are no age or income restrictions to qualify for the programs. Once qualified, a person is eligible for a new amplified telephone, once every three years.
Captioned Telephone, TTY, TTY WITH Large Visual Display, and Braillephone
Additionally, through PACE, ITAC provides adaptive telecommunications equipment loans for qualified individuals who would benefit from the use of a Captioned Telephone (CapTel,) TTY, TTY with Large Visual Display, or Braillephone.
PACE’s staff will assist you in finding up-to-date information for resources and can assist you in finding appropriate services. Access starts with your request!
